BIOGRAPHY

Sofija Sztepanov is a Serbian-Hungarian writer-director-producer. She has written and directed several short films: her first short film, Tinder Will Understand (2016) premiered at the Raindance Film Festival and was later shown at the LA Femme Filmmakers Festival (2017). Her biggest project to date, Antifeminist, premiered at the Reykjavík International Film Festival, won Best Foreign Short Film at the 73rd Salerno Film Festival and Best Director and Special Mention in Florence and London. Furthermore, it was shown in official selection in New York, Berlin, Madrid, Glasgow, Istanbul, China and many other festivals around the world.

 

Sofija was a jury member of the Giornate Degli Autori - Venice Film Festival (2017) and the LUX Film Prize Ambassador. Most recently, she was selected as a participant of the Ontario Creates Financing Forum at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Torino Film Lab’s Next – Comedy Program and the Reykjavík International Film Festival’s Talent Program with her first feature film project, Foreigners’ Club. She is currently participating in the European Writers Club program, Bridging Generations, with This is it, a TV series project she co-created.
